My name is Jessica Mariscal and I am a Bilingual Reading & Language Specialist. I believe in personalized, evidence-based instruction that meets students where they are and builds confidence along with skills.


My Experience and Education
I am a licensed educator with a Masters in Education and over 18 years of experience. I hold endorsements in Reading Intervention, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Spanish (World Language), Bilingual Education, and Multiple Subjects. I have worked with students of all ages from Pre-School to college. I have experience with working with striving learners, multilingual students, and students of diverse backgrounds. My approach is rooted in fostering both academic achievement and a lifelong love of learning through individualized instruction and evidence-based strategies.
I am trained in IMSE’s Orton-Gillingham Plus, a program grounded in the Science of Reading and designed to effectively serve students across all instructional tiers. This comprehensive, research-based approach integrates Orton-Gillingham strategies to support reading development for every learner. It is a
In addition, I am trained by the Center for Teaching for Biliteracy and CAL’s SIOP to use additive, evidence-based practices for biliteracy development and English Language Development. I focus on students strengths and crosslinguistic transfer for accelerated growth in both languages.
